Most recent vintage cars have a fairly large number of vacuum lines on them, not just one. Within your intake manifold (the pipes that carry fuel and air into your engine for combustion) there exists a natural vacuum as the engine sucks in air and fuel. Typically there is a hole drilled in the manifold and a line tapped into it to carry this vacuum or suction to various places in the engine compartment to operate a variety of small controls relating to the ignition system and the fuel system.

Look for the thing on the intake that looks kinda like a flying saucer. It will be about 4 inches around. It will have a little rubber hose going to it. That is your EGR valve. Other vaccum lines go to the mapp sensor and other devices. The mapp sensor is on the firewall. There is also a vaccum line going to a booster for the heater controls.
