Which gender would it be more acceptable for?

Everyone is equal. And everyone is weird, in their own ways.

I have no tattoos (or piercings) and neither the desire for any nor the slightest understanding of why anyone would want any. But it doesn't bother me in the least. Many of my coworkers have tattoos (and/or piercings), and I don't think less of them at all. It's not a moral issue, just a taste issue, and I certainly wouldn't consider someone "inferior" just for having different tastes.

As far as gender goes, tattoos (and piercings) seem to be mostly well accepted for both men and women among the younger generations; older people might still be struggling with the issue. To the degree that my own acceptance would matter to anyone, I find tattoos perfectly acceptable for either men or women. To each his/her own!

Definitely weirdo. Although, I have worked with a couple of people who've had tattoos, most people that I've been in contact with who have excessive amounts of tattoos have been from what seems another planet. I work in the Information Technology field with mostly professionals, and tattoos are definitely without a doubt very non-professional. I wouldn't hire someone who appears unprofessional and I cringe when I go to someplace where I am serviced by someone who has an excessive amount of tattoos. Additionally, I believe that for the most part everyone that I've seen who has had tattoos since they were young and now they are much older, the tattoos appear faded and ugly (even though I can't say I've seen any tattoos that I would classify as being anything but ugly). If you want to rebel do something that doesn't scar you or last forever, like bleach or dye your hair. As far as gender, I would say men....even though I don't believe for any professional person regardless of gender it is appropriate. Remember first impressions are often the only impressions you get to make!

I work part time at a tattoo shop and we have little old ladies coming in for tattoos all the time. Some of our clients are in their late 60's getting their first. Generally, I would say it is now fairly common and accepted in society, although, some people still attach a stigma to it. Not everyone that gets tattooed is a "weirdo" but I have met my fair share the last few years at my job. I also worked for the court system (lots of untattoed weirdos there!) where I was the most heavily tattooed person at the court house. I have as many as some of the criminals that passed thru our doors, but the truth of the matter is, your grandma might have one and she just never showed it to you.
Just a side note, I've also met plenty of "weirdos' that didn't even so much as have their ears pierced. Tattooing is an art form and a very old one at that. If anyone STILL thinks its "weird" to express yourself with body art or body modification, then I guess you would have to also consider having a boob job is weird.
There is no gender line in tattooing, by the way, and just as many women as men get tattooed...you just can't always see where it is.

The skin isnt what makes you an equal or a weirdo. If the tattoos were very offensive then and only then would I consider the person to be a weirdo.

It is disgusting. Why would anyone want to marr their body like that. When I see a person with a tattoo, their intelligence drops about 50 points in my eyes. I see them as white trash type people who are rough. If we were meant to have a skull and crossbones or an armband permanently on us, we would have been born with it. Our bodies are beautiful without these horrid markings. Personally, if I can see a tattoo, and I am hiring someone, they aren't getting the job. It is not discrimination though- it is not as if they were born with a deformity or of another gender, race, religion. Tattoos (and piercings) are self-inflicted, and therefore are not included in discrimination issues.

We shouldn't judge others based upon their appearance (I know it's reallllly hard not to), especially when they look radically different from the rest of society. I used to work with a man who looked like the biggest, baddest biker guy in the world- tattoos, muscles, about 6 feet 7, very deep voice, etc- a really intimidating looking dude. To my surprise, he was one of the sweetest, most professional, and nicest people I have ever worked with. I really learned a lesson there. Keep an open mind- you can learn from anyone and everyone.

Have lots of friends with hidden tats, and a few friends with way out in your face tats. Work with a few people that think they should be recognized for their body art before their work ethic!
Depends on the person and the place I think.
I love tattoos on guys, provided they dont look like Homer Simpson, (the guys, not the tattoos!) and some are nice and classy on women,. but I think when a woman is 80 they are going to look stupid with alot of ink on them!

I don't have a problem with tattoos, but I can't wait to see all these girls in their 50's, 60's and up w/ tattoos on their backs.
Also, it's going to look pretty funny to see an 80 yr old man w/ a tribal tattoo on his arm.

If a person has a lot of tattoos,I see that as a creative self expression. Just because a person wants to express themselves does not mean they are weird, I believe they are who they want to be all the time, unlike so many others who hide behind a facade.

it really depends on the job i would be a little freaked out if i had to go see a gynecologist male w/ major amounts of tattoos.. so i would imagine working w/ that person in modern times people would not stay for the appnt. or a pharmacist w/ a tongue and eyebrow pierced would loose credibility w/ patients wanting questions answered..male or female
