I absolutely think you can. I went back to school at 35, and finished my law degree and took the bar exam at 38. At the time, I felt pretty old compared to my classmates - but I was not happy with my career (technology) and wanted to challenge myself more. I think the watershed moment for my decision to "take the plunge" came when I was telling my mom that I was considering going back to school. I said, "But Mom, I'll be 38 when I finish!!" She responded - "You'll be 38 anyway. Do you want to be 38 and be an attorney, or just be 38?" Talk about a "yikes" moment. But that was it - I got the degree and I've never regretted it. Good luck to you, whatever you decide! Take charge of your life - and know that (even though it sounds trite) you shouldn't spend your life trying to "find yourself." You should spend your life CREATING yourself.

You can make a career change at any point time. Most important to consider is benefits, insurance, 401k, etc.. If you are offered these things then do it. Also, if your not happy in your current job then you do indeed need to move on. Think about one thing before you make a final decision...Can you work with family? Most people say yes and then once they have been with them for a while they realize that sometimes family is just family not business partners. Good luck in what ever it is you decide to do.

If you are not happy you should leave. Can't spend your whole life doing something that you don't enjoy. Anyway starting out in your own business give you a new challenge and maybe you may find your interest there. Besides, you are still young at 30. There are lot's of people who change their career at 40.

If you're not happy with what you're doing now then go for it.
Early 30s had better not be too late to start a new career given that I'm planning on eight years of grad school after college and will be at least 30, possibly older when I finish school and start my career.

It is a very big move.
You need to be sure of you continuation of income as needed.
Other than that, if you can work where you are happier, you will be more productive.
Since you will benefit financially from better business, you will be happier, business will be better, you will be happier still ( Proud too ) business will be better still...see a pattern here???
I changed carrers at 30 and started small business at 35.
Going very well, thank you.

people are definitely living longer in these days and 30's is still pretty young. In fact, If you don't like your new career, you still have enough life left to make about 3 or 4 career changes. It's perfectly normal for people to make several career changes within their lifetime.

Of course you can! If you don't like the job now, think about how much you are going to like it 20 years from now, or 30+ years until you retire? Are you going to like it any better then?? If you have the opportunity to get into another career, one that you will like, then I say GO FOR IT!!!

My friend, yes you can do it.
Live like a no limit person who is willing to be the very best of ones skill and desire. If you plow farm fields be the best. Cleaning solid state devices, then do your best. Find out what makes you happy and a better citizen and persue your career change, just stick with it and you will do fine. Be humble and thank God for his Love.

I think that you can do it and succeed at it. Just be ready for some potentially lean times. You can always go back to your old career should this one not take off. If you dont take the chance, you will never know what could have been. Take the chance.
