The common characteristic of each species of sperm whale is the spermaceti, a semi-liquid waxy white liquid filling the case or spermaceti organ in the whale's head. There are three species, the Sperm Whale, the Dwarf Sperm Whale and the Pygmy Sperm Whale. Sperm oil from the whales was commercially important and was the main cause of whaling.

there is a large cavity in their heads that contains the whale oil used for lighting up until the late 19th century. a sperm whale has many gallons of the oil in its head. whale hunting sailors mistakenly or falsely called this sperm.
i know this sounds unbelievable, but it is the truth.
