I agree with the person who asked this question. i can't say if there is or isn't a God. I am agnostic also, and always looking for proof for both sides.
It is fact that many Christian beliefs are closely related to other religions. From turning water to wine, being born of a virgin mother, miraculous healings, and belief of a type of heaven and hell (Elysian fields and hades respectively); these are all related to ancient pagan religions which predated christianity. Though in this case, they are all thought to be myths.
Why then, when referring to Jesus and God, are these suddenly true? What proof other than a book written by men, said to be writing the words of the lord, do we have that these events actually occured? How do we KNOW it wasn't made up or exaggerated when other beliefs of the same type are ridiculed?
If you don't believe christianity has ties to paganism, just do a little research. Which by the way I'm not saying that pagan beliefs are right either. I just think it is an interesting bit of information.

God is a Spirit, God is love, God is Alpha and Omega-the beginning and the end, God is the first and the last, God is Light, God is our Creator, God is the inspired, inerrant word, God reveals himself through natural revelation, personal revelation and Biblical revelation.
It is evident that you do not want the answer that only Christians can give; that answer is faith.
Faith is inner attitude, conviction, or trust relating man to a supreme God or ultimate salvation. In religious traditions stressing divine grace, it is the inner certainty or attitude of love granted by God ...
There are evidences for God, but no proofs for God. There are evidences for God - the fact that man has an innate desire to worship, the fact that the heavens declare the glory of God, the earth shows His handiwork. They are evidences for God.
There is more evidence that there is a God than there is evidence that there isn't a God. In fact, there is NO evidence that there is not a God, and much evidence that there IS a God.
A person who is an atheist has to be an atheist by blind faith. He has to accept by faith that everything happened. He can explain it by the theory of evolution or by whatever philosophy he wants to explain it, but in the final analysis he has no evidence that there is not a God.
Yet, everything that we see tells us that there is a God. Even our own hearts that have a moral conscience tell us that there is a God.
Now, the Christian accepts the fact of God by faith. You remember Ephesians 2:8-9, "For by grace are you saved through faith, and that not of yourselves. It is the gift of God, not of works lest any man should boast."
Faith is a gift of God to those that love Him.

The proof is all around you. Look at the way the world is set up, the trees, the sky, the moon; everything was created just right for life to flourish here, do u really think this could have all happened by chance? If not the Bible what kind of evidence do you want? Nothing it has been proven false at all. What proof do you want?

When you find your faith then you will believe. Your proof is your faith that you must find within yourself.
I know I sound like a religious nut right now but I assure you I am not.
Don't look for evidence of a God. There is no need. Just live a good life and be a good person, and one day you will find faith that there is a meaning to life.

Certainly there is, but if there were proof what point would there be? How could you refuse to believe in a God who stands in front of you? How could you have faith if he proves he's real? It's not free will if he gives you no alternative but to believe. Free will & faith are the point of the religion, but then I can only speak for Christianity.

Well, yeah, they wouldn't be very good Christians if they didn't claim there is a God, now would they?

Prove to me that you are not imagining that we are writing back to you and that you have a brain. Prove to me and yourself you are not crazy and we are sane.
