arteries = oxygenated blood away from heart
veins = deoxygenated blood to heart
capillaries = where body takes oxygen off hemoglobin to use in cellular respiration

Arteries carry blood away from the heart, either oxygenated or not. Case in point, the pulmonary artery carried oxygenated blood away from the heart into the lungs to be oxygenated.

Vein carry blood towards the heart, either oxygenated or not. Same thing with the pulmonary vein. By the way, the pulmonary artery and vein are the only blood vessels that have the oxygenated blood reversed.

Capillaries are blood vessels with very thin walls, probably only one cell thick, that allow for the exchange of gases and other things needed to be carried in the bloodstream. I'm too tired to type all the things that pass through the capillary walls.

Arteries take blood FROM the heart
Veins take blood TO the heart
Capillaries trasfer blood from arteries to veins

Oxygen content of arteries are the highest (with the exception of pulmonary artery)
Oxygen content of veins are the lowest (with the exception of the pulmonary vein)

The lumen of the vessels in ascending order is capillary < artery< vein

Arteries have thick, muscular and elastic walls, veins have less muscular, thinner walls, capillaries have one-cell-thick walls

Ok....

Arteries- carry blood away from the heart to the.....

Capillaries- smallest blood vessels in the human body. They go all the way up to a cell length wide, small enough for diffusion of materials to take place.

Veins-carry blood back to the heart. Unlike arteries, veins are thinner and don't have smooth muscle to push blood and keep it under pressure. Also, they have valves which restrict the reverse flow of blood.

Arteries carry blood FROM the heart (one exception)

Veins carry blood TO the heart (one exception)

Capillaries are the meeting point between veins and arteries.

The exceptions on the veins and arteries are the pulmonary ones.

arteries carry blood from the heart throughout the body, veins carry blood from the body tissues back to the heart, capillaries are very small vessels that carry blood to small areas like cells, air pockets in lungs, etc.
