Yes, Russia is a big country. It is the biggest country in the world by the land mass. It is almost twice as large as the next country by size - Canada. Russia is the 8th country in the world by population. As for its location, Russia stretches over both Europe and Asia. Here are the countries it borders with: NW & N - Finland, Norway, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania; W - Belarus, Poland, Ukraine; S & SE - Georgia, Azerbaijan, China, Mongolia, North Korea. Although it does not share borders with, but Russia is very close to Japan and Alaska. I would advice you to check out Wikipedia for more detailed information.

Yes, Russia is a very large country that is sliced and diced into many smaller somewhat unstable nations. I guess these unstable nations within "Mother Russia" are much like our states. I did not get a chance to use Yahoo's map finding option, but I think it would go something like this:
1. Go to nearest big city with Airport and ask to book a flight to let's say Moscow.
2. Let's suppose we catch this plane in Atlanta - one way to Moscow.
3. In all likelihood, this will be a very large jet 767, 747, I think you know what I mean.
4. The jet will probably have a screen on the back of each seat that tells you how fast you are going, the distance that you will travel along with the distance that you have traveled.
5. This is where we find our answer! It might go like this. Jet traveling 683 Mph. in a NNE (north-northeast) direction that will get you to your destination in about 8.5 hours. It might even be further dummy proof and tell you that your one-way trip is 5,000 some odd miles.
Now if you are in California, the whole process of figuring this mess out will change. Since it is getting late and my marvelous brain is starting to grow weary, I must answer this a later date maybe June 14th?

Russia is the LARGEST country of them all. There used to be this segment on SCTV called: "What fits into Russia" , where they would hold up cut-outs of all the country to show that Russia was bigger, and then spend time laughing at each one, because Russians are usually like that.
Everything east of Europe, All of North Asia, is Russia.

It's more than just a country, it's a Federation. It's the Easternmost area of Europe and Northernmost area of Asia. However, there is no distinctive line that separates the European and Asian portion of the Federation itself.
Russia can sometimes be referred to as "Eurasia", just like Turkey since that these two coutries encompasses the lands considered to be Europe and Asia.
