Hi - I'm in the process of putting together my own business and am creating a website - I used a free website creator and am still working on it - I'm new at all this and think I've posted it correctly through the free website but am not getting any many visitors or potential customers - anyone have any ideas? Constructive criticism is welcome. The website address is: http://rpmemories.tripod.com/index.html
No stupid answers please

I know its not a great website - that's why I'm asking for help - does anyone know how to do website design? I'm really new at this - and thats why I did the lycos thing cause it was free - we are on a fixed income as I'm a stay at home mom - this would be a side business for me - any help would be great!

For a professional look you will need to get a domain name and hosting. Both can be very cheap. I would rethink the color layout as it is a bit to vibrant to look at for a long period of time. The layout seems a bit off to the left. You may want to add more images to your content, but not too many that it will slow down your page.

You may want to check out free web content managers such as http://www.Joomla.com or http://www.drupal.org or maybe a blog such as http://www.wordpress.com or similar. All are free but require a SQL database that you will need to make sure you have in the hosting package.

My #1 suggestion is to get away from Tripod as fast as humanly possible, nothing irratates a customer more then to have a pop-up everytime the click a link. Check the hosting packages to find out if they include a shopping cart you can use to sell your wares, rather then a text list.

For hosting check out http://www.findmyhosting.com/ and http://www.webhostingtalk.com/ to find out the details on a good host.

I'm sorry, but your web site looks very amateurish. There's far too much text on it and what's there is very difficult to read because of the background. I gave up after reading just a few sentences -- it was giving me a headache.

Try writing less. Try a more sophisticated, light-color background. And check your spelling. There are a lot of typos.
Frankly, it just doesn't look like the work of a professional or someone I'd trust to capture my memories. And you should get a real domain name; the tripod in your domain name is a give away that you used free tools to create it.

great idea and nice site. i actually did one for a very good friend of mine using the wedding photos i took. it came out nice for a hack like me. i put Rod Stewart's "have I told you lately that I love you " as the background music.....anyway, you need more exposure and get included in search engines like yahoo and google. try advertising in your local paper and just about any place you can put up a self printed poster with your web address on it. I hope this works out for you and good luck.....
