You only need to feed your Betta 2-3 pellets every other day! The fish can go up to a week with out eating if you go on vacation!

Probably the package. Bettas do not eat much. 2-3 times a day is way too much.
Oh, and if you have them in separate plastic compartments in the same tank... don't feed them all at the same time. We are not talking the world's smartest fish there. Feed them both at the same time and each one will ignore the pellet in his own compartment, and try to get at the other guy's.
In the wild, betta's live in small ponds during the rainy season. They are bubble nest breaders, which is kind of interesting to see. You need to run the temperature of the tank up pretty high to get them to breed. As I recall, it is around 90 degree's but check on that first.
The problem is of course you have to separate all the males as soon as they figure out what they are, and it is a pain to raise them.
Forgot to add: Life span is roughly two years. They die off at that point, and you did not do anything wrong.

I don't know where people get the idea that Bettas don't require much care or food. I guess its because they are to lazy to care for the poor Betta. I feed mine twice a day, and I don't have him in a tiny bowl, he lives in a 5 gallon heated tank. I take care of him just as i do my 29, and 75 gallon tanks. Oh yea do you eat 2-3 times a week.???

2-3 times a day sounds a little too much that is a large amount of food and i think it could cloud your water i would go with 2-3 times a week because fish are naturally designed to go on without food sometimes so i would say 2-3 times a week

Betta's can be fed everyday but they can also be fed every other day. Because they live in such small quarters if you feed them too much you will only pollute the water and create a dirty and dangerous habitat , especially because there is no filter. You pet store is stupid. They shouldn't allow trainees to give advice.

I usually fed mine a few times a week but it was in one of those vases with the plan on top I think they nibble on the roots. bettas don't require much. I'd feed it once a day or every other day

I feed mine once a day. Around 4 or 5 pellets or a few bloodworms.
