BTU stands for British Thermal Units and it is equal to one mach is one BTU OK, so go to the Lowe's or home depot and tell them the square footage to be heated and they will give you the correct heater 14,000 BTU's will work on 6 to 800 square feet but 25,000 BTU's will work best don't over BTu it, great question

When you buy a heater especially if it is electric on the box it will give a table of how many btu per square foot .multiply the lenght times the width and this will give you the square foot.those numbers can be transfered over to a gas heater

I have a 67000 btu natural gas boiler.
I set the water temp at 140% spring and fall. I set it at 160 in the dead of winter.
It is a Weil McLain VHE (very high effiency)

I will always buy a Weil McLain because of thier service. They have actually sent me parts free to help out when I had trouble finding the right part.(due to lack of stock with the plumbers around here)
