i do work, but my shifts have been cut dramatically down to one time per week for the summer. I do have an incredible educational backround, but i just cant seem to motivate myself to go out and find another job, i dont know if its fear of becoming a real grown up and working the same place the rest of my life...the only motivation i have is to go to the beach everyday...
Does anyone have any tips on how i can motivate myself a little more to start being a responsible person?

Depending on how old you are, if you are still very young, go for the fantasies.. if you are over 25 start being realistic.. I am older (not by that much lol, I still dream) and I should've, could've, would've.. I now have 3 children and worry about college and wish I would have stuck with that job that paid $17/hr back in the 90's. You never know where your life is headed but know you will not be alone, whether it be kids, parents or friends. People will need you! Rely on yourself and be proud of what you accomplish. I work F/T at a job I hate and P/T making money drinking wine.. for fun, lol! For more info or just advice feel free to contact me.

first of all, you are going to have to sacrifice a little now, and then you can go to the beach as long as you want, without being a prisoner to your job. I suggest the book 10 things you need to know before you quit your job by robert Kiosaki. First, keep your job, or get another job that wont be as annoying, and generate some income. then save a percentage of that every paycheck into a savings account so you can invest. if you have good credit, you can even invest in real estate and get a good loan although you dont need a good credit score for that ( but it wont hurt to have one). Then, you rent the property and either sell it when it appreciates or keep it as a rental. then just add to your wealth by doing this over and over and over. pretty soon, you wont need a job anymore.

You've been given the gift of time.

Get out one of those leftover spiral notebooks from your incredible educational background, and begin journaling about yourself. Talk about what you wanted to be when you grow up. Talk about who influenced you. Talk about what you thought you were going to do that you haven't, and what you would do if you could.

Then understand that you *can*. You are the only thing you can control in this world.

I recommend you go check out the writings of Epictetus at the site below--they are mind-blowing, and I guarantee if you use your time at the beach to read them and think about them, you'll get yourself motivated--and you'll probably do things you never dreamed you could.

Hang in there!

I suspect the bills and other obligations will eventually become a sufficient motivator themselves....Really, though, I would begin by sitting down and asking myself, " Is this where I really want to be? Is this my career goal?" To me, you don't seem to be terribly happy where you are now.
It seems to me that the one constant of the human condition is "change ". Try and see if you can't somehow use this in your favor.

I would start out by having some "you" time. Like go to a spa get a makeover. i'm not calling you ugly. it is a proven study that when people change their hair get some new makeup on they feel great and want to go out into the world and do what you want to do. And figure out what you really want to do. Maybe it's your job that's dragging you down. Good luck!

Everyone is in this dilemma. Survey your interests. Think of a job you would like doing. Some people turn hobbies into job skills. How much cash do you have? Buy and sell stuff.
Is it a money problem or a job problem?
