Click "Start". Right click on "My Computer". Select "Manage". On the left window-pane, select "Device Manager". On the right window-pane, select "DVD/CD-ROM drives". Look to see if any entries under that subsection have "DVD RW" in the name.

usually in front of your DVD it will show your DVD status
whether it just DVD ROM or DVD burner
if there are no description then install any burner program such as Nero..it will automatically detect if your PC have burner
or buy a new DVD +-/rw then try to burn your data

You could look at the front of the drive's tray. You should see some logos. Some simply say "Compact Disc" for a CD-Rom. If it says "Rewritable" under that, it's a CD-rw drive. Some will have that, as well as a "DVD", which would be a combo drive.
It would says "DVD R" or "DVD R/RW" on it.
You could also check the Device Manager, accessible through the system properties icon in Control Panel.

Find out which brand/model the DVD drive is (does it have a logo on the front?) and go to their website to find the specs. Or just put a blank DVD in the drive and try to burn something with your favorite burn software. If it doesn't work, that means it can't burn DVD's.

Look at it. If one of the drives says DVD writer or DVD RW on it, you have a DVD burner.
