I expect to get teased by asking that question, that's cool. But I live in Southern Ohio and in the past (almost) 3 years, I've see two relatively bright blue stars at night around 10:00 pm. One just moving along and then abruptly turn and zip off into the cosmos. The other just sat there like a star ... it began to slowly drift to the south and started getting smaller ... then it too just zipped off, with the trail that lasted for an instant. What's up with that?

The second time it got smaller right above me, as if it were moving away.

You are experiencing the optics of living on a spherical world. These are in fact airplanes. They may appear to be moving straight away from you, but they are actually going at an angle, and never passed directly over you. When they disappear over the horizon, the movement is exaggerated by your eyes. Watch the sunset and see how wavy the sun appears and also the difference in color. This is due to air in the atmosphere bending the light waves before they get to you. When something is directly overhead, it has less atmosphere that it must be seen through. At the horizon, you are seeing it at an angle, so the reflection is traveling through much more air, distorting it and any movement it makes.

Hard to say without observing it myself. I do know that at night the atmosphere will play tricks on the eyes, also, there may have been a cloud or two (which you couldn't see) crossing the sky below a star or planet. That's the best I can give.

It sounds to me that you are seeing two distinct type of aircraft ... one may be a jet ... and the angle that you observe it may distort the speeds you think you see ... another may actually be the sun beaming off a satellite ... with the illusion of an aircraft ! And of course you may have spotted my space ship ... unto which we will have to take you on board and erase your memory ! Or have another beer and do it for us !

Strange lights at night, been going on ever since mankind existed. Could be crafts of some kind. Could be atmospheric plasmas. Personally I think they are crafts made by the dino-people who live within our planet.

Sounds like some high-tech space craft, maybe a UFO or special govt aircraft.
