What would be the point in being scared that there is NOT a God. One could argue that one believes because he is scared there just might be one and he best not be on the outside looking in. To not believe in God would be easy, you know exactly what will happen to you, you will live, you will die. That's it. Nothing more, the end, no one cares and either does he that dies, he should not care if he lives or dies, and should not care if others do. For that person who does not believe he should be totally void of morality and reason and he should understand that he is not more than the dust upon the souls of our feet.

It is sad, for in the end, he has nothing, Nada, zip, to hold onto, no will, no reason too. For the end is the end....bye bye.

It's human nature to depend upon and to believe in something, to know that there is something bigger than you, to know that life has a meaning;God offers all this, so humans say he MUST exist because if he doesn't then they're screwed (so basically, yes we believe in God because were scared there isn't one) People say they believe in God not because they scared but cuz there really is one; but really they're just lieing to themselves

I read a quote somewhere, it goes somethin like this:
" I rather believe in God and find out he doesn't exist than to not believe in God and find out he does exist"( the guy on top didn't come up with this quote, some guy in the middle ages invented it)_

Fear doesn't have anything to do with whether I believe in God. I do not believe God is an All Seeing, All Knowing, White, Male Supernatural Being in heaven waiting for earthlings to be judged if we're good enough to abide with God for eternity. I do believe God is All Things to all people. For me, God is Nature, the Cosmos, the Oneness with the universe, the total and combined Consciousness of all beings, the Architecture. Engineering and Operation of the universe. I believe you, me, we all are part of God and we always have been and we always will be. I believe there are only God (Everything) and nothing (antithesis of God).

I believe in God because I'm scared not to. When my day comes and I meet God I don't want to be sent to hell because I didn't believe.

Yes. To a certain extent. Although I don't believe in God specifically, I believe in a greater power. Because I don't believe all of this was created without some help from someone/something.

I think that there may be some people who believe in God for that reason, but I am not one of them.

Interesting question. Since this is the philosophy section, allow me to share a part of my philosophy with you - I believe in God because everything else feels unreal compared to Him; to know God conquers fear
Let me ask you also a question in return: are you afraid there is a God or of getting to know Him?

I used to wonder, and yes, I was afraid there might not be one. But I changed my mind when He completely turned my life around. I had tried everything, really studied everything to help myself with everything going on in my life, and then one day, after yet another failure, I ASKED for help, and there it was. And every time after that that I asked, there He was. I believe in the Bible, and in Christ, not because I was raised to(I wasn't), not because I'm afraid(that didn't do much for me) but because I have proof in the way He and only He was able to change my life. Give it a try.

No, I believe in God because I realized that I am a sinner and need Him to forgive me my sins and let me go to heaven. In addition, I believe in Him because the bible says He exists.

I believe in God because he IS. Why not try reading and studying the Bible?
