God sent the Quran to save the souls of man through Mohammad (pbah) Islam is not a cult it is a true religion just as all Abrahamic religions are. but Christianity was once seen as a cult too.

Charles,
A common error that people make is the erroneous distinction that Allah and God are two seperate entities. However, "Allah" is simply the Arabic word for "God."
In Islam, each and every individual is born in a pure state (fitrah) and must strive to maintain this noble state. As such, there is no such thing as "original sin"; in essence, everyone must hold account for his or her own actions. Therefore, through this logic, you cannot attribute sin to any soul that has not earned it, and there is no need for the said "saving." As this worldly life is simply a test through which God has put every soul through to determine the steadfast in faith and to discern between the true believers and the hypocrites, the only method through which one may "save" him or herself is to persist in righteous deeds, glorify Allah (God), give charity, help the poor, rectify and avoid corruption in the land, spend his or her wealth in the right ways which are pleasing to Allah, etc. In order to discern the things which are pleasing to Allah, He has sent down the Qur'an, a criterion which, since its revelation over 1400 years ago, has never been changed or manipulated by human hands. Muslims believe that the original forms of the Gospel (Bible) and the Torah, yet are of the belief that these have been changed over time by human hands. If you are disturbed by the apparent deletions, additions, contradictions and inconsistencies in these aforementioned books, the Qu'ran will prove to be a very enlightening and worthy read! I challenge people from all walks of life to survey this miraculous Qur'an and see what all the "hype" is about. If you are confident that your religion is the truth, and are steadfast in your belief, then such a challenge to read the Qur'an should not pose as a threat, right?
So the answer to your question, in a nutshell, is this: In order to save the souls of humankind, Allah (God) has given each and every soul the power to choose, as well as a guide, a mercy, and a reminder (the Qu'ran), to live our lives in such a way as to attain His pleasure and Paradise.
