When I first moved in with my girlfriend, who is now my wife, it was a scary thing for me as well. We were living in my parents garage apartment, rent free, eating for free ( my moms awesome cooking), and practically had no bills at all. We went from that straight into a $800 dollar mortgage, grocery bill, cable bill, water bill, electric bill, and so on. We have never missed a mortgage payment, and we just purchased another property. My advice to you would be "GO FOR IT". As long as you both work hard, actually work smart, you will have no problem. If you don't do it you may end up living with your parents until your 30 like so many other people. And don't worry about money, the more you worry about it the less you will have.

It is a big leap. Everyone has the same worry about money when moving out for the first time (or any time thereafter). Make sure you talk about the money so you can avoid fighting about it later. Don't overspend...start small on your expenses(i.e. go with basic or no cable to start) as you learn to manage your money better you will know when you can spend a little more here and there on other stuff, but if you stay small you will have a better mental grasp of your situation.

Don't do it until you know that the fears are all gone. You can get rid of those by establishing a career or steady job. Get some money saved and in the bank for emergencies. Make sure that both of you are doing these things to prepare. If one of you is prepared and the other isn't, then you will both crash, not just the one that did not prepare.

Those are the "little" things that need decided before you move! Make sure you are both clear and understanding what role the other is taking care of. .... and a little extra advice! Be sure to have your own private nest egg apart from his! don't spend it and don't let him know you have it! It doesn't have to be a big amount just keep adding to it.Even if it is a cookie tim save your loose change! You never know what lies ahead in a relationship!

If you can't afford it, why move? Discuss it with your boyfriend and save some money.
