Water is wet because the molecules of water are loosely held together by the dipole intermolecular forces of attraction. Therefore, water can easily slide down your hand or into a cup, because of the fluidity of the molecules. This is what causes "wetness".

the tricks of the english language...wet is caused by water ( duh!)..and by a change of state from solid to liquid..or by condensation from vapor back to liquid..and of course when dew point is reached and it falls on your head.
Try the same question in Russian or in Farsi and you'll find that the relation of water to wet will vary.

I got off an airplane in London, England and felt as though I was wading in ankle deep water as I walked through the airport...weird....wooooooo

Wet is a subjective feeling. Mercury looks wet but wouldn't feel wet. Take my word for it--don't handler mercury.

ooh ohh i know the answer to this question
ARE YOU SERIOUS????
let me tell you the story of a galaxy far far away.....SERIOUSLY
pluto and uranus? collided millions of years ago.....right above Earth.... at that time pluto's atmosphere was concentrated with hydrogen gas (dats why its so cold *hint*) and uranus was at the time the transport module for oxygen for the Little Green Men from Mars. Gas and gas formed a new substance that flowed substantaneously: WATER
oh and the surviving Lil' Green Men from ze collision evolved to form idiots.......lets just hope u haven't got the genes(or perhaps stole them?)
