As soon as the terrorist get under control and things work smoothly. This no small task where one can just snap there fingers. The network must be broken and the job must be finished or else it will be worse off then when Saddam was in power.

We still have troops in Germany and Japan, but World War II has been over for 60 years. Why does anyone think Iraq should be any different?
A poster wrote: "The troops will return from Iraq when Bush will be kicked out of his position."
President Bush isn't going to be kicked out. He steps down next election, and another Republican will win. Democrats are out of step with America. They haven't won a national election since 1996.
You may want our troops to run away in defeat, but luckily, whoever you vote for in 2008 is going to lose. Badly.

When a stable government has been installed in Iraq, and a locally created and maintained Police force is able to keep the peace. Then they can come home, when the Iraqi government asks them to do so. And not a moment before then.
And when that happens, have NO fear your dearly beloved (by you lot anyway) president will have another job for them to do. Forget any idea of America not being at war, it will not happen, the American economy is geared to being at war, so not being at war is not an option.

Usually they stay out for about a year to two years at a time... but I don't think we will ever permanentaly leave that country. We haven't left Vietnam or any other country we have really had a war with/in.
