To be aware of your problems is the first step to fixing them. It's hard to get rid of everything you've learned over a life time all at once. You seem to be on your way but every now and again, it will creep back. Just keep recognizing it.

Dont panic, everyone has prejudices. Having a bias towards one group of persons doesnt make you a racist, its normal. You are a racist if 1) you believe that race alone makes someone automatically superior (e.g. the worst white man is still better than the best black man regardless of actions) 2) you act on these thoughts (e.g. hiring someone unfairly just because of their race, trailing someone around a store even though they look decent enough just because you are a different race).
So you played a bin laden hate game...so what? Its only a race issue if you think him a bad man because of his race. the truth is he has reportedly done many bad things and people even of his own race hate him. if for example, I think George Bush is an idot and I dont base this on his race but on the nonsense he says at UN conventions, then no one can call me a racist even if i am a different colour from him.
Honestly given that you have dated outside your race I dont think you are a racist. I think that you are simply a person who has been exposed to racist ideas and who struggles with issues of race and prejudice, just like 99% of the world.

Well, if you thought about those words and repeated them becuase you felt anger or hate towards another race then you might be a little racist dear. As for playing the bin Laden game, well, everyone hates him and it has nothing to do with his race. It has to do with what he did. If you were just thinking about racial slurs without actually believing that they are true then I don't think you are racist.

We usually don't admit it, but all of us have our prejudices. To a certain extent, it's just human nature.
The challenge is to keep it in check, and to let our ability to accept each person as a unique individual overcome our tendency to engage in prejudice.
Do you treat people with fairness and respect regardless of their race? Do you assess people by the content of their character rather than the color of their skin? Do you recognize that all of us are children of God?
If you can honestly answer "yes" to these questions, then you are not a racist -- even if some prejudiced thoughts involuntarily pop into your head at times. That happens to the best of us.

yes hatred is tought. and everyone will have prejudiced thoughts. i dont think the blow up bin laden things are so bad, but, where does it stop??? i am white, and yes i have had racist thoughts about black people, i am also jewish so germans arent very big on my list, but then i think we are all people, so who cares??? My best friend is german and the closest friend i have in my grade is black. so we need to see past all of our differances and see the people underneath.

blow up binladen isnt bad. we're americans and binladen is an a**hole.
but to make stereotypical, and crude remarks about people merely because they live in a bad neighborhood is wrong. perhaps not racist, but still wrong.
i personally stay away from the very thought of racism, its disgusting to me. i dont use any racial slurs or jokes..
...well, except with a friend at work. shes half irish, half Italian, and she calls herself a "Wopercaun", i love the way it sounds so i call her that too.

Prejudice is fear. You sound to me like you would give any single individual the benefit of the any doubt before you prejudged them . I don't think you are racist. You have a legitimate reason to feel fear these days. It doesn't make you a bad person.

Nah, being racist is when you start to hate a people so much that you hurt them, or vandalize their property. The occasional insensitive remark is a non-issue. Almost everyone does that from time to time...
