Because people never have to go on vacation... they are already there!

Because lots of people want to live in Hawaii, so they're willing to work for a small salary just for the opportunity to live there. That's why people working on oil rigs make TONS of money- nobody else is willing to go there!

Supply and demand. Lots of people willing to do a few jobs.
