My dad is really hard to shop for, and everytime I ask him what he wants, he says he doesn't want anything. But I want to get him something good this year, instead of the standard card and cash.

My dad hates material things, I don't know if it's because he's part Native American or what, but the material stuff won't fly with him.

Are you a close family? See if you can dig up old photographs from when you were younger up until today of you and your father. Get a collage frame and put it together. Write him a letter, not a card, and tell him how you feel about him and growing up.

Alot of people are not that close with their own family to do something like that. It is something I did for my father and he cherishes everyday of the year.

My Dads the same way. What ever you get him he will apreciate the fact that you thought about him. A card is nice.Take him out to eat or cook him a special meal. These are things that money just cant buy. Take him fishing or play golf or what every he likes to do.

Sharing your time with him, showing him how much you care is something that can't be bought. Your time is the most valuable thing that you have, and is the most precious gift you can give him or anyone else. He's native American and native Americans put a high value on respect of their elders and family.

Take him out to brunch or something that day and have a child/father bonding experience =) Haha, how lame did that last part sound. I dont know, sometimes Dad's prefer to just have some alone time with their kids and a nice chat. Try it!

Depends on his leisure time activities - if a golfer, then the obvious - you can Never go wrong with a dozen of good quality golf balls - try Nike (they go further). If he is mechanically inclined, there should be something at Home Depot or Lowes he can use. If he's a 'bookworm' - the latest spy or political novel.

How about a book? I heard about Wisdom of Our Fathers: Lessons and Letters from Daughters and Sons by Tim Russert. It's supposed to be really moving. You could include a message about how much your dad means to you. I wish my dad was still here...

You are thinking to hard guys like simple things like tools or music Sirius radio would be an excellent choice. any tools couldnt hurt, I know alot of guys that enjoy having a nice pen if thats his thing. a year subcription to a magazine of an interest of his is always a winner, not to be gross but guys like to have a good mag in the bathroom.

Look for things around that house that he might need a new one of..such as shoes, tools, etc. Or maybe you have noticed that he seemed interested in something he saw while watching TV or looking at the store.

Well. look at what your dad wears often or what he enjoys doing. Often a picture framed or a certificate made by hand promising to spend time with him should be just what he wants. Just remember to treat him right on his special day! maymay
