There *is* no ideal weight. If a mother eats plenty of healthy food, takes excellent care of herself, and has some good luck too, her baby will be born at the ideal weight for *that* baby.

If you are interested in what is *average* birth weight, here are some numbers. They are from the newest growth charts from the World Health Organization.

Baby boys are typically born between 2.3 and 4.6 kilos (5 lb. 1 oz.-10 lb. 2 oz.); about half of all boy babies weigh from 3-3.7 k. (6'10"-8'10"). Girls are typically a bit smaller, 2.3-4.4 k (5'1"-9'11"); about half will be 2.9-3.6 k. (6'6"-7'15").

I hope this helps!!

Weight of an infant is very subjective. Usually if the baby is healthy and not premature, averages from about 6 1/2 to 9 pounds. Usually, healthy babies have a typically 9 month pregnancy and a weight above or below this may be acceptable as well as long as the baby is functioning normally. Breathing, nervous system, normal brain functioning, etc. Premature babies under weight today still have a great chance of survival due to modern medical techniques and care.

Babies are born at a wide variety of weights. There is no one ideal weight. I believe the average is around 7 1/2 pounds, but if your baby is more or less, that is probably perfectly normal for him/her. Babies born prematurely can weigh considerably less than average and babies born to moms with gestational diabetes can weigh considerably more.

my baby was 7lbs at birth. that is an average weight. if a baby weighs anything between 6lbs to 10 lbs that is considered the ideal weight. you have to remember that the size of babies are contributed to many factors. for example, the birth weight of his or her parents contribute to the size of a newborn. if you give birth to a premmie, the average weight is from a few ounces up to 5lbs, depending on her far into the pregnancy the mom was. I hope this helped you. If you are pregnant, I wish you all of the best. Having and raising a child is a WONDERFUl experience no one should miss out on.

I think the ideal weight would be around 7 or 71/2 lbs. Mine weighed 6#8oz, 7#8oz., 8#8 oz.,7#4 oz. Today alot of babies are getting to weigh 9 or 10 lbs. which is really a little big.

the ideal weight in my opinion is an 8 pounder. I was a 5 lb. baby, but I was healthy and full-term. So was my daughter.

Full term or preemie's?
Any where from less then a pound to over 18 pounds or even more.
All babies are different when brought into this world of ours and the only important thing is that the new born baby is healthy.
