I love Niel, but Dylan is a better Songwriter. Check out the lyrics to "tweeter and the monkey man" (a Wilbuys take) but a Dylan song. The best!

I'd say Bob Dylan because he wrote a lot of protest songs and those tend to have feeling and meaning in them. Don't get me wrong, Neil young is a great musician, but when it comes to songwriting Bob Dylan wins.

P.S. Great Question, keep up the good work

how many roads must a man go down before he becomes a man? keep on rock-in in the free world! I know of a man named hurricane carter! meet me under the harvest moon? I'm gonna have to say Dylan!!! Neil young is a different style from Dylan. blowing in the wind shows how much words mean to Dylan. Neil young put more focus into the instruments with the feeling of a song and words were not as important. but don't get me wrong both are important and often replicated but never duplicated!!!

If I had to choose I would say Neil Young and here is why in my opinion Dylan was more of a poet than Young but Young was a better musician and was more involved in all aspects of the production of his songs

Neil Young is better with melodies, Bob Dylan is a more powerful lyricist. Overall maybe Young.

Bob Dylan is the better songwriter, just check out "Masters of War" or "Like a Rolling Stone" for proof. But Neil Young is the best, as evidenced by "Ohio", "Southern Man", "F***in Up", and "Rockin' in the Free World". Awesome.
