Forget prepaid, get MetroPCS if you have it in your area. It's only $40 a month, pay as you go, no contracts, unlimited minutes. Whatever you get, make sure to get a Sumsung phone. They are the leaders in durability and technology. The only downside to MetroPCS is you don't get long distance plans.
As for prepaid, I think Verizon has a Prepaid plan, and if they do, they have the best service availability hands down. Their phones are all made especially well too, but again go for Sumsung or Motorola in that case.

I heard a commercial about one Target has, but forget the details. I recall thinking it was good, because a friend of mine was looking for a prepaid one also.

depends on what your lookin for...their all pretty stingy on minutes...but Cingular Go Phones have Night and Weekend options if you have a recurring payment (like a real contract only w/o the contract, and credit check) but they have pay as you go options as well...T Mobile has free Internet acess and free incoming text messages, US cellular offers unlimited CALL ME minutes with a (rather expensive) recurring payment like a Cingualr go phone...Virgin Mobile has "funky" trendy phones...but i dont know much about the service

Cingular go phones have pretty good rates. They also offer flip phones and camera phones in pre-paid. Good luck!
