Absolutely not. Even if the mother is only going out for a few minutes, it is extremely dangerous to leave a child of this age alone. A child this age has needs that must be met by a responsible adult. Diaper changes, feedings, comforting, and protection from danger are all necessary. The baby can not take care of himself.

No, It is not okay. What if the baby has an apnea episode? What if the baby swallows something? What if the baby begins to cry because it is hungry or is afraid? What if someone breaks in when you are away and steals your baby?
Why have a child if you are not going to care for it and protect it from harm. children are not dolls to play with one minute, and then when you are bored, put it on the shelf and forget all about it. No. I see too many parents who, in my opinion, shouldn't have kids. The ones that let their child run off without supervision then cry when they are snatched up. We live in horrible times when you can no longer leave your front door unlocked, nor let your kids play outside; for fear they may be snatched or shot.
We must remember children didn't ask to come here. So we as parents must protect them until they are old enough to fend for themselves.

No child under the age of 12 should be left home alone. Especially babies. A child of 1 and a half is quite capable of climbing out of anything and everything. Then there's the possibility of a fire breaking out in the home or a burgalar or other threat. Get real. No one in their right mind would do this.

That is so not ok. What is the child going to do? He/She is basically helpless. They are only 1.5 yrs old!!! If the mother ever does that during their parenthood, they dont deserve the right to be called a mother.

yes its bad unless you are leaving for 5 min. because the baby could get out of the playpen and harm herself. or she may want to eat or drink and there will be nobody to give it to her, she cant do it by herself.
the kid is helpless, so dont expect her to stay in the playpen quietly playing the whole time you are out. he/she is a human and needs to be taken care of and attention. : )

No, not just for safety reasons; but because a child has to feel secure. If they are alone and crying - even at age 1.5 - they will develop abandonment issues.

The problem is that the thing will poop all over while you are gone and then you will have a mess to clean up. The best place to leave one would be in the tub. This makes for much easier clean up.

Well, leave them a gun to protect themselves and some crack to occupy their time, they won't get hungry that way either, and perhaps some porn to think about--what kind of sick scumbag would leave their child alone in a playpen and leave the house, is someone calling social services yet on this as*s hole, please.
