If you get her to an eye doctor, and it is not due to dry eyes, and if she cannot consciously stop, after being told it is unbecoming, it may be muscle spasms. Ask her to breathe deeply in and out for about 6 breaths - not hyperventilating, and see if that relaxes her and her eyes.

If it is unconscious muscle spasms, I suggest she be checked for low blood sugar, as that can be the cause of uncontrollable eye twitches and muscle spasms of all sorts.

If there is no obvious physical reason (or if there is) you should take her to her doctor. If there is not a physical reason, there could be an emotional cause. Has she displayed any compulsive behaviors in the past? Or has anything changed in her life that might cause her to be anxious or nervous? Usually excessive blinking, like twitching, can have its basis in anxiety or as an early manifestation of an obsessive/compulsive disorder. If her doctor cannot find a physical cause, he can refer you to a mental health specialist who works with kids.

More than likely, it's a nervous habit. Could be a sign of anxiety. It could possibly be a sign of terrets snydrome (sp?), but it's not as likely if this just started. May be a good idea to have her see a phychologist or school counselor to see if she is having some anxiety.

I did that at that age too. In my case, it stopped. However, interestingly, my son has Tourette's Syndrome and one of the typical first symptoms of TS is excessive blinking. (I don't mean to alarm you, most cases of TS are very mild and don't even need treatment.) I'd mention it to the pediatrician, though.

Also, have her eyes been checked recently?

do not let all people else sway you. Your daughter is your duty so it is your selection. It relies upon how a lot you think your relations. in my opinion, i does no longer deliver my 11 12 months previous away with all people for better than a pair of days.
