The best way to gain your self esteem back is to build yourself back up again. Whatever situation you were in, forgive yourself and start your healing process. Self confidence comes from within, and it is up to you to find that. Keep your head held up high and whatever that is bothering you- don't let that get you down. It takes a while to gain your self esteem back, so give yourself some time. Find activities that you enjoy doing- like yoga, getting a pedicure, whatever makes you feel better. You are the only person that can define yourself. Whomever or whatever broke your self esteem, that particular experience will make you stronger and a better person so use it as a life learning lesson. Things will get better.

I second what the first two people said. You also have to do and act like as though you already have it. I know that may not make since but the things you do affect the way you feel. Your appearance, mind set, the things you watch on tv, the music you listen to, the people you hang out with, the food you eat, the places you go on a daily, and so forth all contribute to your esteem. Particular things keep you feeling low, and depressed: angry and saddening songs, foods that are labeled as "depressing, fattening foods" at times ex. ice cream, extra fudge, etc. Change the setting that your in. Buy a sexy outfit, talk to people who make you laugh, tell yourself that you are fine, and believe it.
I know its so much easier for people to tell you than it is to really do so, but trust that you can and will rebuild your self-esteem.

self esteem is a tricky thing. you never really notice it, until it's gone. getting it back is entirely up to you and how hard you're willing to look at yourself for you, not what others think of you. whoever broke your self esteem doesn't care. whoever meets you from this point on, does care. but it has to matter to you. if you want your self esteem back, then take a good look at yourself, find the things about you that you like, and presto! you've got the foundation for building back your self esteem.

basically, the way you get it back, is not to let the person who took away from you...have it. simple as that.

Help somebody. When you do good things for others it is the quickest and best way to build self esteem. Help at the senior citizens place or help at the pound with the animals. Help an elderly neighbor with yard work or other chores. Help you parents out. DO SOMETHING KIND AND GOOD FOR SOMEONE OTHER THAN YOURSELF. I promise, it works.

Reading all of our advice, stay away from negative people. Find something that makes you smile, laugh. Do things that make you look good, dress good, feel good. You project how you feel, and playing with small animals, riding a bike, getting your hair cut or styled different. Others tend to cut you down to make them look good, which is a defiantcy in their personality. Helping others, find ways to laugh, and if all that fails....go to library and read on Self Help books, maybe you need a lift? And we all go thru low periods in our life....Snap out of the low! Smile or find something to smile about.

Concentrate on your best qualities. No one should have low self esteem, you should be proud of yourself. I'm sure you are a nice person.

if you're a girl, get a disney princess bandaid and imagine yourself putting on your heart, and be that princess and move on with your life. if you're a guy, get a spiderman or superman bandaid and imagine yourself putting it on your heart, and be that superhero and move on with your life. :-) it also helps if you act like a kid for a day. build a fort out of blankets and eat popsicles and goldfish underneath it. and just enjoy being innocent and having fun. trust me--it works. :-)
