My current job which I have been with for over a year has proven to be very stressful. However I still would like to leave on good terms. The truble, I am having is that on job apps, they ask for numbers of your employers. I know that i have done a good job and I do belive in doing my best on a job, so I am not worried that they will say anything horrible. I just want minimal truble. I am not sure how clear this is, but you guys will let me know. Thanks

Yes, give them your employers number. It will aid in your employability and create credibility for those you interview with.

You can list the contact information on your resume, but put a little note beside that says "please not contact this employer at this time". Most employers will put two and two together when they see that you're still working for this company and are trying to show some discretion, which they should appreciate. This way, you're assured that they won't contact your employer until the interview - which is when you can give them permission to contact your current employer, if you're interested in the position. This should severely cut down on the possibility of your secret job hunt leaking out to your current employer.

Yes - you should give information on your current position including contact information. Most employers will realize from looking at the dates of employment that you are still employed at your current position. References are normally not checked until after an interview has happened. During the interview you can express your concern about possible reference checks with your current employer and any static it may cause. I hope this helped ease your mind a bit! Good luck in your search.

Definetly give them the number of your employer. If I were looking to hire someone and they didn't have their employers number on their app I would think they probably aren't a good worker and they don't want their current boss saying anything bad about them.

Sure, give them a number. The number to the Human resources dept. They only want the number to verify that you were/are employed there. Some potential employers don't even call half the time.
