Great question!
I know I'm not hockeyrocknchick myself but I'd like to be able to give an answer.
Most people who have avatar's generally try to customise them well enough to look like them as much as possible. Not only is it fun but it's also a great way to give an impression of themselves without actually showing exactly what they look like. To this end, avatars are much safer than real pictures!

I'd like to think so....but no... I just have to live with my long haired handsomeness.....and longevity.....It's a hard life if you dont weaken friends.
