Yes, you can install Firefox on a P3. The only effect would be to give you a different browser to run when you want to connect to the Internet. Will not slow down or endanger your computer.

fire fox wil work just fine for your Pentium 3 comptuer. fire fox does not have any negative effects on your computer, but you might see a faster response and download using fire fox.

No it doesn not. It effects how much memory you have. You can run it at 256 MB. But it's better off with 512 MB or above.
