Image that the electric (fully electric, not a hybrid) car was available today. Let's assume that it is well-priced and performs as well or better than cars on the market today. In addition, for the purpose of this question let's assume that it charges quickly and that there are are charging stations around the country, like gas stations where you pay to charge. Would you purchase an electric car? Why or why not?

From the way you've described it, there really doesnt seem to be a downside. And you wouldnt even need stations where you can pay to charge, I'm sure there would be some kind of adapter so you can charge from the electricity in your own home.

Absolutely! I don't buy new cars anymore - but would buy a used electric or hybrid, if I could find an affordable one. However, in my area, the Midwest, they are as much, if not more, than a brand new one (due, in part to the price of gas right now.)

Yes, I would purchase an electric car as long as its range and/or speed of charging meant it could effectively replace my CNG Honda that has a range of 200 miles per tank. I already have a (freeway capable) fully electric truck (a Ford Ranger EV, my daily vehicle), and would buy another EV in an instant if it gave me greater range than my much-loved Honda.

i would drive an electric car only if charging prices were lower than gas stations today. i would also use one because it could get me places faster and save the enviroment during that time.

That is a big if....right now they are only good for around town, and don't do well on highways at higher speeds. I would buy one IF they were improved.
