If you use a CD-R, put files on it,it becomes read only and the files can not be changed.

However, if you use a CD-RW (and have a CD-RW drive), you can format the CD-RW as if it is a gigantic floppy disk, and write files to it, delete them, re-write, etc.

You will need software for formating the CD-RW, but that should be included as part of the burning software program that came with your CD burner. Check the Helps in the program.

Are you sure you meant read only? Before you burn a CD you can choose to have it finalized so no more files can be added, depending on your burning software, the procedure differs.
