yes, i had this done 4 years ago, and have never regreted it for one moment!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i was very sick with diabetes and hypertension; left the hospital after the procedure and have never been diabetic since. lost 100 pounds. then had my tummy tuck with 16 more pounds off. i have never felt better in my life. my stomach tells me when to quit eating. have never gained any back. i am very active, horsebackride, and am happy as a clam! visit with your surgeon to see if this is the right solution for you. many things are taken into accout. but for me, it was the right solution!

Artie, I can't speak directly to Gastric by-pass but I do have some personal knowledge about both Gall Bladder removal and Abdominal Aeortic Anyrysm repair.
Well, I don't know exact information on them. I was asleep But had them 6 days apart in two different hospitals.
Best thing to help you recover is going to be in your attitude. Think of it as something new and exciting. Don't feel as if it is the end of the world. You can have a full and fun life ahead with a good attitude.
Lot's of luck. It'll be a breeze, you'll see.

I have 2 friends who have had it done. They both lost SUBSTANTIAL weight in almost no time. Neither one has gained it back (5 years for 1, 8 years for the other).
Both still say to this day that they regret having the surgery - side effects are awful, drastic immediate lifestyle change is hard to handle emotionally, stretched out skin doesn't regain elasticity...
Do some serious research before having this done.

Gastric Bypass Surgery is very cheap in India. There is one company that is very famous in India that arranges gastric bypass surgery for foreigners in India. They are called the Forerunners Healthcare.I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories.I have also read that they arrange financing for american and canadian patients as gastric bypass surgery is not covered by insurance.
They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. The cost savings are incredible. As a doctor i personally believe that your obesity surgery can be easily handled in India as the quality of healthcare available here is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.If you still havent got your surgery done, you are better off getting it done in India.

my cousin got her gastric bypass surgery in India through the forerunners healthcare and she is more than very happy with the results. She paid very less. She has lost 65lbs in 5 months already.
hope this helps

I am against it personally. 3 of my aunts had it done and they all changed completely (physically and mentally). 2 of them have passed a way before the age of 60. One got addicted to diet pills because she thought she was still fat. The other became and alcoholic. The 3rd one that is still alive is constantly taking pills.
On the other hand, I know of someone who seems to be doing great from it and she's in her 20s.

I have friends who have done this. Biggest issue is often they cut your bowels and you can have leakage often they have to go back and stitch and correct it. Very common. The diet regulations after surgery are hell and dramatic weight loss affects your skins elasticity and often people need a upper body or full body lift and skin removed. Painful but worth it in the end.

A friend of mine just had it done in Feb. She went to a special seminar presented by a Doctor who does this type of surgery to make sure that she really wanted to have it done. They covered all aspects of the procedure from pre-op to post-op and going home. She says that she feels great. Good Luck to you

Unless you have a huge issue, I mean ******* HUGE, then dont mess with it. I know a person who died from it, and everyone else I know who had it got extremely sick for a long time and wasnt that happy with what they did.
