I mean, they get all this free stuff while real american citizens have to pay for it. Some people went through a real, hard process, trying to become an american citizens. While others just hop the border and live here. Plus, the president made it so that illegal aliens CAN live here. Whats up with that?

Well, there're a lot of arguments on both sides on this one, and I'm not claiming I have a key to all the answers, but here's a couple of thoughts.

There are a lot of tasks that most of us wouldn't do for the wages being offered for them--manually harvesting asparagus, or pumpkins or lettuce, for instance--that the illegals are thrilled to death to do for the offered wages. Compared to what they would have made back home, with their skills, what we're offering seems to them to be munificent. If we had to jack the wages up to the demands US citizens would make (which would include an assortment of benefits), the price of whatever-it-is would have to rise in proportion, making our lives a lot costlier. Please note that in areas of the world where there is no illegal immigrant cheap labor, food's a whale of a lot more expensive. Compare the price of cucumbers in, say, Belgium, to those here; it's enlightening.

Conversely, it could be considered an act of charity, of benevolence. Who is more deserving of the largesse of one of the wealthiest nations around? Other wealthy people, or the impoverished whose poverty is mostly a result of poor education despite their desire to better themselves? I'd rather see the bucks go into the pocket of some poor illegal immigrant who is going to bust a gut seeing to it that his kids get a better education than he/she did, and have a chance at a better life, than into the coffers of clowns like Saddam Hussein or Osama bin Laden (Both of whom, by the way, were able to achieve their positions of power by US aid, funneled into their hands starting during the Carter presidency--check it out in your library), where it has gone, and probably still is going.

On the other hand, these people are ruthlessly exploited. They live in substandard conditions, and by being kept fluent only in Spanish, are isolated from those who would offer them real help--like education, access to other kinds of jobs than menial labor, etc--and often their children are hustled from place to place with them, never having a chance to get any formal education, raising up another generation of near-slave labor.

There are multiple sides to this--and most of them really don't make a decisive point as to what we should do.

When all else fails, we need to look to see what is right, what is ethical, what is just, and do that. It may be costly (it usually is) but it's the best path in the long run.

The tricky bit is knowing what's what on highly emotional issues like this.

Also, remember--most folk in this country are descendants of aliens, of people from Europe who came and were welcomed by the native citizens and ended up owning the land, taking it away from the Native Americans who were here first. As one friend's T-shirt put it:

"Homeland Security: An issue since 1492..."

SO... given that a lot of the population in the US are descended from what were once "illegal immigrants" (The Native Americans didn't invite Euros, you know) we might reconsider our attitudes a little.

Before I begin, let me tell you that I am so Glad that you asked this. First of all, America is a CONTINENT NOT A COUNTRY. The United States is a COUNTRY NOT A CONTINENT. (for all you ignorant people out there) The United States is IN America along with Mexico, Canada, Brazil, Paraguay, Peru, Argentina and Many other Latin COUNTRIES. (I suggest you look at a map if you are still unclear about this.) So as you can see there is NO "Real American Citizen" as you said, unless you speak of all American COUNTRIES which you do not. Second, the "illegal aliens" put food on your table everyday, they are the people that work in the fields growing, picking and packaging your food so they are not here for free. They are paid WAY below the minimum wage. (you can also research this). These "illegal aliens" put in much more money into the system than they take out. Because they are "illegal aliens" they are denied MANY services such as Health Care and Welfare along with many other services. So technically you are not paying for them, (they pay taxes too but don't get refunds), who you ARE paying for are the Bums who stand on the corners asking for money to buy themselves a beer. You don't see "illegal aliens" doing that, they work very hard for the little money they receive. (if you don't believe me you should try working and doing the jobs they do). Lastly, it is not easy "hopping" the border, many people die doing it. THE BORDER CROSSED THEM, THEY DID NOT CROSS THE BORDER. You should really try to live in the "illegal aliens" shoes if you really want to get their perspective on this. And by the way, the ANGLOS (the white people) who came to the Americas first (the so-called pioneers) did not have to go through a "real, hard process" to become citizens, they just killed all the Natives and took over. WE MIGHT HAVE CROSSED A RIVER, BUT YOU CROSSED AN OCEAN. I hope that I answered your question and if you have any more questions I suggest that you research, and find out the true story before asking them. The United States has always lived on the backs of slaves and is still doing so now "illegal aliens" have become this country's slaves. Without them this country would crumble.

The President gave them a chance to live here. Because of the poverty, i think they ( i mean the illegal aliens ) are trying to survive and they believe that America is the only country that can give them that chance to have a better family life. Yeah, some people went through a real and very hard process trying to come in the USA and become a US citizen. I think we will just give them a chance and hope for the best for them. Let's just dont be selfish and understand their side and what they are going through.

What needs to be understood are the political and economic ramifications if fellow "earthlings" are not allowed to live where they want. Aside from being "hospitable", Illegals probably generate and sustain more growth in our country than you can possibly imagine. It is a serious domino effect that would effect nearly every segment of our economy. By domino effect, I mean, every business in this country depends on other businesses to make it successful. Somewhere down the line a business is depending on a business that has a significant number of "illegals." If you are so concerned about losing a job, I suggest you work harder and smarter, because money knows no skin tone or ethnic diversity. Toss the silver spoon and realize that we are all in this together; we are fighting the same fight, we are running the same race. Know you can be better and be thankful we live in a place where we can still make our own decisions.

As a LEGAL alien who paid a fortune for fees..who pays into the system ..i still wont get much back unless i was a citizen.
There ARE if you are prepared to go through the proper channels..ways to live here legally.. there are various visas to apply for so on so forth.
It just annoys me because im left wondering why i bothered coming through the proper channels in the first place (it took 8 months of paperwork.fees. medical checks..background checks and fingerprinting..followed by a 2 year 'probationary' period).

What free stuff are you talking about? The vast majority of "illegal aliens" as you call them have jobs and pay taxes. However, since they're here illegally, they never get taxes back. Since most of them work at or below poverty level, they would be entitled to income tax refunds if they could file. So in reality, they spend more in taxes than you or me. Also, when they get older, they can't claim social security even though many of them have paid into it for years. So what exactly are you saying thatwe pay for?

I dont know about you but I like helping people, I like to see people get ahead in this world, and I like to see people happy. It really bothers me to see people suffer. I dont see where any of the aliens you mentioned have affected me or my life at all, but they seem happy to be here in America. I wonder if you had a relative that was one of these aliens, and you actually witnessed your relative being handcuffed and dragged back to say Mexico where they have it so bad and can not better themselves if you might have a change of heart about all of this? Does this make sense to you? These people do deserve a chance at a better life for themselves and their family and offspring. This is not our land to dictate who can and cannot reside here now is it? We are all imigrants did you know that? Well we are. Your fore fathers were not refused a place to come and call theirs. So what should us younger American generation do these days? what really is the best answer for everyone considered?

You shouldn't have to pay one cent to international criminals. Foreigners want to come here? Fine. GET IN LINE. WAIT YOUR TURN. How would you feel if you were waiting in line at the grocery store or post office for an hour, and you saw people cutting in front of you? I've punched guys out for doing that. Cutting in line is UNACCEPTABLE in our country.

But that's exactly what illegals are doing. They're flipping the bird at those foreigners willing to obey American law. MFers.

they do a lot of the work that "americans" dont want to do. work for lower than minimum wage when people here are complaining about minimum wage. they contribute a lot to the U.S. economy. they put in money into the social security program which they will never get back. you should study a little bit about the facts and stop thinking and looking at the world through your biased eyes.

No, when "some Islamo-Fascist in Pakistan says, "Death to America,"" He is obviously VERY ignorant, they don't have schools as good as we do so they can't learn the truth. Maybe you should do some studying too. How can you call you call yourself a United States Citizen and be so ignorant?!?!?!
