If the Crown prosecutes it as a summary conviction offence, it is punishable by a maximum punishment of a $2000.00 fine, or 6 months imprisonment, or both.

If they proceed by indictment, the maximum is 2 years imprisonment.

In the USA it is grand larceny,at a value over 500 dollars,I have no idea what the penalty is up there at 5000 dollars
