I might be worried about rabies if I saw bats flying over my dogs. Bats can carry the disease and it might make them attack. Make sure they are vaccinated if you are in an area where bats are endemic.

Don't worry about the bats. The bats are just eating the bugs and dogs attract bugs. The bats won't bother the dogs unless they are vampire bats and I don't believe there are any of them in the US. The bats are actually a good thing to have around, less bugs.

No, not unless you live in Africa or South America or something like that, and even then, a vampire bat won't attack a barking moving dog, and even if it did get your dog in its sleep, as long as your dog is up on his rabies shots, it wouldn't be harmed by it or even notice it....Your dog probably just scared them out of their hiding place. The bats probably won't be a threat to him, in fact, they'll probably try their hardest to avoid him. The only thing would be to make sure he's up on all his rabies shots in case your dog tries to bite or grab one, in which case, he may get bitten by the bat trying to get away.
(Note: Bats don't produce rabies or anything like that, and not all bats have it, but just like any other little critter like raccoons or squirels, they can still carry and transmit it.)

Even carnivorous bats would not choose something as large as a dog for prey. Generally, bats do not "attack" large mammals or humans. While it is disconcerting to hear a flock of bats overhead, they generally aim to avoid obstacles, including us. An exception might be a panicked bat trapped inside a house which might accidentally bump into you. In general, bats have a lot more to fear from us than we have to fear from them.

I don't think bats really attack do they? I wonder if they are flying over them because of the noise echos? I don't know but will check back to see what others suggest.

Are you sure they are bats that you see, or some type of bird like a hawk or owl or even buzzards. Prey birds can and will attack a small dog. Not sure what kind of dog you have.

doubtful unless they are some large vampire bats most likely there are some bugs that are attracted to your dogs that also hover over them.
