All depends on the your level of maturity and how long you'd be caring for the baby.
Taking care of a baby is lot of responsiblity and is totally different than caring for a 2 or 3 year old. If you only want to care for the baby because you think they are cute or "pretty" you are not mature enough to take on the task.
Regarding laws, each state/province varies. And I don't know of any that require first aid etc in order to babysit. It would be a smart idea to have it though.

Hello LaShae, i have an answer for u. i don't think that u should be watching ur littlle sibbling and i think that you should talk to your family about this and let them know how this makes you feel. let them know that u would like to enjoy your childhood and if u wanted a baby u would have gotten pregnant already. yes i think that it is good to bond with ur sibblings, but i know that it is morally wrong and a big no no for ur mother or father to keep u watching their problems. speak about it . or contenue to be a baby sitter. and be carefull on these sites as u know there are all kinds of people on them who are not so friendly. besides u want to see your baby sibling grow up. i am a medical major, take it from me, i have seen all kinds of crazy things going on. tell a teacher, a friends parent or someone who can help u if your parents wont listen, i think that they are abusing you and you, believe it or not are a baby ur self. if anything was to happen to you while ur in the house alone with your baby sis the law will haul ur negligent parents away and u would be put into foster care, but as i have said before, no you are not yet ready. be careful

Yes, you are. Babysitting starts at age 12. However, you have to be mature enough to handle the responsibility and some 12-13 year olds are not. Make sure you know what to do if something should happen. Knowing how to handle situations is part of being mature enough to babysit.

There are laws regarding this concern that you have.
I think a teen needs to be closer to 16 to babysit. If it keeps you from attending school it is against the law.
You may want to check this out.
Then again it may be 14 if it is in your immediate family, as long as it is not overnight or for an extended period of several hours.
You need training and infant CPR should there be an emergency.

If you show your parents that you are a responsible teenager, then you could be old enough to watch your 3 month old sister. But I think that your not old enough to.

Really that depends on you and your parents. If you are a high functioning 13 year old who knows what to do in case of emergencies (like infant CPR -it is different) and your parents think you are responsible then I don't see why not.
