considering significant issues such as poverty, the educational system, class division, the mess of a war in Iraq, even this country's obesity problem, why is something as trivial as gay marriage even register as an issue that needs to be discussed? if people love each other, why should it be anyone else's business whether or not they get married?

It shouldn't! I feel that gay marriage is something that really shouldn't be an issue. Gay marriage is no different from Straight marriage. Beside, its love and just because a book (which also have some events that are proven wrong) says homosexuality is bad, doesn't mean its bad.

I feel that gay marriage should be allowed everywhere and when I become a famous actor, I will spread this message, but it will be weird since I'm asexual and I don't give a crap about love and relations.

In conclusion, gay marriage should be allowed.

Bringing up gay marriage is what got President Bush reelected in 2004. His campaign advisor Karl Rove knew he would get religious conservatives who otherwise don't vote out to the polls. So he's doing it again in 2006 to shore up low approval ratings among Congressional Republicans.

Look, when this came up in 1997 when Clinton was President 90%+ of Americans were against gay marriage. In 2004 just over 60% were against it. Now just over half are against. In 2008 the majority of Americans won't care about gay marriage one way or the other. So Karl Rove needs to use this as a campaign issue while he can.

You need to understand those who hate gays don't really think much of us heterosexuals either. They think sex is for two married people under the covers with ankle length flannel nightshirts on with the lights off for around 2.5 seconds,

Protecting the saintity of marriage is not a trivial issue. If the definition of marriage changes, then by law anything goes. Think of the most radical situation, and it will be illegal to stop them from getting married.

If two men or two women can marry, then it will be unconstitutional to stop four men from marrying themselves. Any combination of gender or number will be permissible.

If you allow common law marriage between a male and female, why can't you allow a gay marriage? Two people are in love and decided to be together - that is marriage. They should receive spousal benefits and mroe importantly recognition.

I don't understand gays, but I let them be. To each their own, but flaunt it.

Anyway, Canada allows gay marriage and many other countries are considering it too.

GAY MARRIAGE is just another Domino of Society that is being knocked over by the Liberals on the road to total anarchy.

When Society crumbles and has no enforcable rules or traditional laws anymore... we will have ANARCHY!

When ANARCHY finally arrives...thank a Liberal!

JUST SAY NO! NO TO GAY MARRIAGE!

The difference to me between gay marriage and polygamy is that gay mairraige is between two people who love each other. Polygamy is not always consentual. FRANKLY there is nothing wrong with gay mairraige, and really, what business is it of any ones if two people want to get married?? How does it affect you? Honestly??? TELL ME how does it affect you.

For many people, God's law supercedes the other laws we are bound to in this country. For this reason, gay marriage is extremely important to such people, including myself. I understand your reasoning, though. I hope you understand mine.

It is stupid! Put your energy into something that needs it! Gay people getting married doesn't hurt anyone!! If you are so worried that it's a sin and against the bible and blah blah blah then why not let god decide this when they die? It's not up to us to decide what a sin is!
