That's archaic! Second graders should have 20 kids in a class. You should have 4 sections. I would ask for 2 more sections and then that gives them room to negotiate and you may get one more. Write a letter to the board of education and attend their meetings. Don't be afraid to speak up and talk about how the research supports smaller class sizes...especially in the younger grades. Get people to sign a petition...the squeaky wheel gets the oil...so SQUEAK!

I am not sure of what your question is.. I think that is a lot of students in the classes ( I have a degree in education) and yes parents should make their school or school district open another class especially at those numbers. If the school tells you no don't stop there take it to the district and all the way to the top. That's way too many kids in the class.

40 students is too many for one grade. Usually a classroom should not have more than 25. Your suggestion to write the school administrator is a good one. It would be a good idea if you write out a petition and have the other parents sign it too. That way they will listen to you better.

Of course that is to many children in one class room, they need to add at least one more class. But the way to go about it is to get all the parents or most of them to write letters and send them to the board of education, also to your goverment officals, and put a editoral in the local paper, make as much noice about it so the school has to peek there heads out and say we better do something about this, and it wouldn't hurt to show up to every public school meeting also.

Acketh! First, check to see if there are 2 or 3 teacher aids/assistants. If there are, then things should go pretty smoothly. If there is just one teacher, then the students are going to suffer greatly, both academically and behaviorally. There is simply no way one person can keep up with 40 seven year olds!

Check the class size limits with your state department of education. Get some documentation to support smaller class sizes.
Get help with research from a university school of education.
