If you consult the Merck Index a commmon source of information regarding all chemicals you will find a value for the LD50 for that compound. LD50 stands for lethal dose in 50% of the test population. Now also of interest is the fact that many frustrated chemistry teachers who have spent weeks trying to teach their students the basic conventions for naming have added this compound to tests to see if they could write the formula. Dihydrogen meaning 2 hydrogens and monoxide meaning one oxygen for some reason has baffeled greater thean 50% of my students. So when you consider this and reflect on how powerful propoganda can be an the fat that have scared some people using water jsut think what they can do with real scary stuff like Irradiated meat and strawberrys.

Dihydrogen mono-oxide can be very dangerous if you try to breathe it, or when it is heated above 100 degrees Celsius.

I like that. Haha, H 2 O is the same as dihyrdogen mono-oxide. But the other sounds toxic! I love this.

I don't know anyone who was fooled by that (most people I know are scientists) but I'm sure many people have been.

By the way, did you know the word gullible is not in the dictionary?
