As to finding aliens, it's anyone's guess.
As to that kind of travel, the next generation may see it. Boeing, UK, and Russia are presently researching "Anti-Gravity". It is reported that Boeing has a center, not broadly publicised.
Use your imagination on the ability to attract or repel an object, in space, by repelling the gravity of earth and attracting the gravity of another planet.
This has been "demonstrated" in Sci Fi, but so was our present communication devices.....in Dick Tracy comics...from the '30s on.
Russia claims to have progressed further than others but will not offer proof. UK has accomplished a minute amount of progress.

Maybe if we stop having wars and spent money that is focused on wars and use it on space travel we will. But it will take a long time to travel in deep space. Even if we do find "aliens" we won't be able to communicate with them. I say we take a new born baby and put in a space shuttle with a crew and fly straight. The baby will stay on the ship all of it's life and write notes on what it sees. The info it records it will send it back to earth. The baby will live and die in space. Hell I volunter
