Do you think it's possible to read it without forming any political opinion, but just to use it as an example of how to write a bad book? I read it in high school, and yeah, I was offended, but then I just wrote it off(no pun intended) as a good guidebook for budding young authors like myself on how NOT to write^_^. Let's face it, the man was a hack writer. He couldn't even put a decent paragraph together.

Mein Kampf is German for "my struggle." I always figured it related to Hitler's obvious struggle with coherent sentences.

As for whether it can be read without political bias, it sounds like you've already done so.

Of course it is possible to read it without forming a political opinion, but I am sure it is hard. I never did read it.

It would take a sophisticated person to read a book that I understand is very politically charged; and walk away the same person.

Hitler was an evil guy and there are people out there that would follow what he says whether or not he was a good writer. They probably never even read a book, not even "Mein Kampf". To hate a group of people for such reasons is mindless and hate filled. There is no real logic behind it, just acts of cruelty.

He rings a bell in my memory of Republicans. I'm a libertarian and don't like each events however the fantasy that Hitler used to be a liberal or socialist is dull. Sure, he outlawed weapons however he additionally emphasised the value of ladies staying their residences to elevate kids and to not paintings. The Nazis banned abortion if the girl used to be of "Aryan" lineage on the grounds that it might smash their customers of long term Aryans. Hitler don't forget himself a Christian, he idea of Jesus because the excellent embodiment of a "superb specimen". He wasn't an atheist nor used to be he a pagan. In truth, probably the most Nazis have been pagans and Hitler dislike that however he tolerated it. You can uncover all of this in his biography Mein Kampf. Hitler did feel in God, he feel he used to be doing his will. There are images of him praying! The myths approximately Hitler have got to be thrown down if we wish to get a real perception into the person.

I do think it is possible to read without forming a political opinion, and it sounds like you did it already! Just like you said; it offended you, but you wrote it off and looked at it from a literary standpoint only. I think one thing that makes it possible to do that is that most people already have opinions on Hitler anyway before reading the book (unless of course you've lived in a cave your entire life) and reading the book won't necessarily change them; in fact it will probably strengthen them.

You can read any book without agreeing with the sentiments of the author whether it is the bible, das kapital or mein kampf.
These books have been influential on certain members of society but when it comes to the quality of the writing remember that the ability of the translator can be a big factor.

Assuming you have already developed a political philosophy and your mind is not an empty space waiting to be filled, a book like Mein Kampf would have NO influence on your thinking.

It's possible, very possible, and I am of German decent. It is a very bad book, and Hitler had very poor literary techniques. I preferred the "proverbial rhetoric" champion of his time, care to take a stab at who that was?

well it is hard to read such a book without bias, but it is very poorly written. Even Hitler's supporters thought it was crap, but forced themselves to read it to please the Fuerher.
