I'm wondering if this ever happened to anyone...my BC method was always the patch, but in may i started taking the pill, i was supposed to get my period memorial day weekend, but i only spotted for a couple of days, and it went away, and about two days ago, i stated spotting again, but the discharge (the blood) is very thick, almosto like melted chocolate, and it's brown, just like chocolate (i'm sorry for the comparison), but it's never happened before, we still had unprotected sex during the month of may, and now june...i took a pregnacy test, but it was negative...
thank you everyone

Hi there!

It could just be that because you switched methods of birth control that your body is just adjusting accordingly. I would reccomend using a back up form of birth control at all times (such as a condom, spermacide suppositories or a diaphragm) just to be safe in case for some reason your body is having trouble adjusting to the pills. As far as whether you are pregnant or not, sometimes a home pregnancy test isn't always accurate. I would suggest going to your family doctor or gynecologist and getting a blood test done. Blood tests are 100% accurate and the results usually come in within 1-2 days of sending the blood sample in to be tested. I hope this helps! :)

Its normal for your period to be that way after discontinuing depo. Youre only shedding uterine lining from months ago, not much else, little blood flow. In a few months you should return to normal. The brown color is caused by shedding pure uterine lining. It might be gloppy and sticking and not a flow of blood--all normal. Of course if you are still concerned ask your dr, but sounds textbook to me. Doesn't sound like your pregnant all all. Look up symptoms of pg on the web, if you are still worried. Good luck!

you need to go to a doctor pronto! It sounds like its because the change in birth control, but the only way to be sure is to go to the doctor. They'll do a pregnancy test using blood instead, as well as other blood tests. Friend of mine had the exact thing happen to her when she changed her BC.

Oh, and on a side note... use protection ^_^
