Have someone take a lot (50 or more) of photos of you with a high quality camera. Not from a disposable or cheap digital (at least 4.0 mega pixels or 35 mm). You can get ideas on poses from magazines. Make sure you highlight your best feature(s) whether it be face, legs or simply your smile.

Be very selective in which photos you select for you portfolio. 10 - 20 really good 8x10's should do. Again, make sure to highlight your best features.

Search the yellow pages for a model ling agency and set up some interviews. It is a tough business so be prepared for some negative feedback as well as positive. Take the comments as constructive and use them to improve your presentation.

If you are really serious, keep plugging away at it. Persistence really counts!
Good Luck

First get some test shots and don't pay a million dollars for them either if you got it you got it and if not move on. and Actually Myspace.com has opened alot of opportunities to network with people and it's free alot of modeling sites require you to pay money and I really don't recommend that for you do however I have a friend that owns a fashion magazine and they way i got started was by being in the right place at the right time but i also book other girls for castings and things of that nature but unless you re really dedicated if you need info on casting or things of that nature you can email me at daprincessofva@yahoo.com if you have any questions about how to get started.

Eat a lot. LOL! Seriously they consider Plus size 14 up AKA any on that can't fit in to the gap. Try to be some what toned. Big is good but jiggly looks silly.

Go to modeling auditions. if you live in or near a big city (Los Angeles, Chicago, New York etc..) there are always modeling auditions. OR you can go to models.com
click the company you like to model for and then you have to sent 2 pictures of you one of your face and one of your whole body then send them to the agent (with your information on ANOTHER piece of paper: your e-mail address, home phone#, cell phone#, eye color, weight, hieght etc..) and they will call you if they want you! (by the way i think u have to sign up for models.com its like $60)
