Really want to go to USC because it's right here pretty close to me and it is a great business school but thinking that maybe going far from LA for a while would be a good experience but would also be leaving everyone I know behind while I'm in school. I need opinions from the outside.

As a CA native, born and raised......all are good schools that you mentioned. USC is great, but the location it is in can be described as " Ghetto " and it's in a really bad part of the Los Angeles Community. Although that has nothing to do with the school itself.

Berkley is great and would be a good choice! UCSB is good, I had some friends that went there but it isnt better than Berkley or USC.

I didn't realize that USC is now seen as more prestigious then UCSB and especially Berkeley. I guess times have changed? Maybe. Anyways, Berkeley, from friends' testimonies, is an absolute mind-numbing challenge to get accepted to, attend much less survive 4 years. It is no cakewalk even for the super-intelligent few that have been accepted there. Somehow I just don't think USC overall comes close to it. Correct me if I'm wrong.

USC's the more prestigious school, but Berkeley's got a great rep and is in a cool town. I'd check out the programs/profs in the areas you're interested.

UC Berkeley! Not just cuz i'm alumni but it's a great school and there are tons of people from LA there so u wont feel lonely. Plus berkeley is known for their competative business school, HAAS school of business.

UC Berkeley!!!!!!! It's a intense school but the people have very laid back attitudes. Also the street vendors up and down University are a lot of fun and quite interesting.

Eventually we have to leave the Nest, Its a good way to broaden your horizons. UC Berkeley, a real good option. The only person you should be concerned about leaving behind is yourself.
