I've had a LOT of recurring dreams over the years, most of them during childhood.
One involved trying to come up from a basement that was supposed to be in the library but looked nothing like it. There were wooden stairs and just as I started coming up them, they kinda stretched and turned so it was like I was climbing a ladder, and I could see a bare light bulb hanging on the other side. This one eventually stopped on its own but I don't remember when.
I had a lot of other recurring falling dreams of this sort too. One involved being on this tall stone thing by the library steps (what is it about the library anyway???) and hanging onto it for dear life. Another involved me sitting in the yard near the street, and the yard sloped downwards so I was always afraid I'd roll off and fall in front of traffic. I still have this one once in a blue moon.
Nowadays my main recurring dream is about this house that I've supposedly recently moved into. The house doesn't always look exactly the same, and sometimes the events of the dream are different, but this house was always previously owned by a religious elderly couple who died and left all their old boring religious books behind.

I have had several through the years. One is where I am driving a car from the back seat. Yikes. Another one is inspired by the Pepsi Center in Denver, I attended concerts there as a teen and its very steep walking up and down from the seats in the dark - I have had a recurring dream that I am sliding off and cannot stop. These two have stopped, I guess. I haven't had them in a long time.

Yes, I used to have a repeating dream once in a while for many many years, but it did stop long time ago, i used to dream that i was in a city near the coast and suddenly i looked at the sea and there was this gigantic wave coming toward us, but i never died or suffered, i just saw the wave coming, i was alarmed but not terrified. Interesting, isn't it?

I have several reoccurring dreams and most of them I've had since I was a child. They usually only reoccur once every several months and sometimes some of the minute details have changed (like the people who are with me or how old I am in the dream). One of them involves an alligator gar fish flying through the air chasing me through the woods and poking holes in me with it's snout. I know it sounds pretty funny (even to me when I'm awake) but when I have it it's really scary. I can't really think of any of my other ones right now and usually I don't remember them until I have them again and I know that I've dreamt it before. Then it will fade again after a few hours or days and who knows when it will come back. Not all of them are nightmares like the fish one, though.

I have a certain dream in it which I am being chased by an unknown person. There is only one place to hide, in a tool shed in middle of the woods. When I get in there are black widow nests every where. I get scared and look everywhere for an exit but there are none. I still get that dream. Have been getting since I can remember.

Yeah, recurring dreams occur because your subconscious is trying to make some aspect of your psyche known to you. Your subconscious mind is almost more brilliant than your conscious mind. In dreams, it tries to bring things to your attention and make you address them. Things such as problems in your life that you haven't been dealing with. Recurring dreams will stop once you interpret the dream correctly, and address the issue. They are almost like schedule reminders that pop up on your computer or something. Once your task is completed, and the date has passed, they do not pop up anymore.

It is not necessarily the same dream but I frequently have dreams with tornadoes in them. They are off in the distance, never really a true threat but many times there are 6 or 7 tornadoes at once.
