go into chat rooms they usually pop up everywhere when i go in.

Chat rooms are probably the best way to meet LOTS of new people, but you would have to make sure that they won't send any viruses or something, or sexual predators or something. I don't really trust people I meet on the Internet too much, so I would say the best way would be to visit a public institution that suits you, and you might meet some new friends there. Be aware, though, some people actually talk so much that it gets annoyng when you're busy but they ignore that fact.

IM everyone on your list and ask them too IM your IM to every one on there list
If you dont mind them all having you ID and they can invite you to be there friend. Who knows your best friend of future romance could be on IM
