My son is 6 1/2 months and he is finally taking a bottle occasionally. I've tried every bottle on the market, with every kind of nipple and he just wasn't having it! I tried breast milk and 5 different formulas!! I recently got the regular cheap Gerber bottles and pumped some breast milk and he drank all of it for the first time! He also drank some formula and juice today. Have you experimented with different bottles and formulas? Some babies actually like soy formula better. If he doesn't take the bottle, it's probably best anyway- I know tons of parents who have the hardest time taking the bottle away at the 1 year mark. Weaning my daughter from breast to cup was a piece of cake! Good luck with the whole hubby nighttime feeding thing, my husband is in Afghanistan-so, it's all up to me!

Have you tried different bottle nipples? One of my three children would only drink from bottles with a specific nipple.
Another thing- try feeding your baby using a bottle - this way the baby is used to mom and the bottle and doesn't feel that dad with a bottle is as drastic a change.

you can try pretending the bottle is a airplane make the noise and see what happens.

usually a baby that is breast fed. will not take the bottle as long as the mother is in the same room. have the father try feeding her the bottle while you are in another room or outside watever.
here are some websites you can check out with bottles that support breastfeeding.

i take it you are breastfeeding. to get my daughter to take a bottle so that i could work (3rd shift) and my husband could take care of her, i would express and fill the bottle with breast milk, (she wouldn't take formula) and she was more than willing to take the bottle because she was hungry and the breast milk was familiar. other things to try are different types of nipples, the one you may be using may be too fast or too slow, the nuk type nipple seems to be the one that lots of breast feeding babies like, and there are even bottles that look and feel like the breast so your child won't be confused with the change. if you try to feed your child a bottle s/he may not take it from you because s/he knows that you have the "goods" and will refuse it, it's better to have someone close to her/him (ie your husband) give her/him the bottle filled with expressed milk. Good Luck, and just keep trying. i know it's frustrating..it does get better though.

Well, I have 2 babies, one is a newborn, and the way I did it, is when the baby is breastfeeding, you can have a bottle ready and switch off, or just keep the bottle next to the baby's mouth caressing her lips, remember it's okay for the baby to cry a Little.

If you are nursing, you can try pumping, maybe the baby will take it with breastmilk.
Good luck, my son is 14 months old and I never got him to take a bottle.

I'm guessing that you are nursing and would like to sleep :-) Been there. My son would not take a bottle from me at all. He wouldn't take one from my husband either, however, he would take one from my mother, our babysitter and our neighbor once we changed to Avent bottles. We went through about 8 different styles before we got to the Avent ones. Also, if he saw me or heard me, the bottle wasn't happening.

my daughter is 3 and half months and i keep trying to give her the bottle too.she only loves the boob.
try pumping breastmilk in to a bottle and give her that once or twice a day for maybe a week, get her used to a fake nipple. then start adding alittle formula to the breastmilk each time.

you just have to be persistent. don't give the breast so easily. try different nipples and keep trying to put the bottle in the mouth. your baby will catch on unless hi is super dumb
