If you're asking why most blacks seem to have an affinity for the Democratic Party, it's because they were the party that at the forefront of the civil rights movement in the 60's.

The Republicans were in office that spearheaded the Civil War. The Democrats during the Civil War were in favor of slavery.

i think you mean why are most blacks democrats. The answer is because of the political shift in the 1960's. Namely President Johnson's civil rights act. Since then many blacks switched to the democratic party, and passed on those allegiances to their children. The democratic party is much more socialistic in the distribution of wealth, so the poor tend to get more perceived benefits. Many poor people were black in in the 1960's and 70's and could identify with this party. At the same time the republicans were pandering mostly to traditional American ideals, and were getting large donations from the wealthy, further distancing themselves from the poor, and blacks included. its really a function of economic class, not race.

That's not true. The democrats are pretty much demographically a slice of America. Most are white, and there are more Hispanic democrats than black ones, because there are more Hispanics than blacks in America.

If you mean why are more blacks democrats; well, the Republicans haven't done much for them lately, and pretty much haven't since the Civil War. Lincoln, a Republican, freed the slaves, but I don't think he'd recognize todays Republicans as the same party he belonged to.

That isn't entirely true, but I suppose you could say the majority are...the reason for this is dates back to the beginning of the Democrat Party which began around the Civil War time. Democrats have always leaned for the normal "folk" and at that time African Americans were more in the "normal folk" area. I suppose that has just continued on through generations. Hope I Helped!

Most blacks are demoncrats, not the other way around. Historically, the demoncratic party has been the most socially useful to black americans, except for that Republican dude, Lincoln, but he's long gone, and memories are short. Now, the Republicons, and the demoncrats, neither party had any interest whatsoever in representing any common citizen, black, white, brown or yellow. Black people are also, slowly, becoming more conservative, a trend I applaud. The two party system is so very rotten!

White people make up the majority of the democratic party. Or are you asking why are most blacks democrats?

According to the last census bureau, African Americans make up about 14% of the US population.

If that were true the Republicans would not have nearly as hard a time winning things. Blacks only make up roughly 13% of the population.

It's a law, haven't you heard? It's mainly because of the large percentage of blacks that want the free money and welfare that the democrats dish out to them via government programs.

at one time blacks were mostly republicans.but majority switched, when democrats.. represented the laborers.. and union members... and the so called working man. now a days..both parties.. have people of all walks of life...rich..poor..laborers.. upper management. a number of blacks are returning to the republican party. ..it is hard to tell a democrat from a republican sometimes.
