I happened to have grown some lillies on the side of my house. As these seem to not do well in the heat of a Texas summer, I thought of putting small lantanas between the lily clusters and trimming back the lillies to keep up the appearance of my yard. Any gardeners out there that could enlighten me about any possible problems??

Once your lilies have died down naturally, the lantana shrubs will cover the area nicely. I would not cut my lily stalks back, though, as they are busy storing food for next season's growth and bloom. If they are very annoying, bend them over (once they are brown) and hide them under a layer of mulch.
The only problem I can really see to that is that lantana is a drought-tolerant, poor-soil lovin' critter, whereas lily is a little more fussy.
Oh...and your small lantanas will not remain thataway for long...it is considered an invasive in some areas of the country, and grows like crazy here in Texas. So if you are looking for something to grow in fast, be a good filler plant, lantana will be great, but it may also take over the site. You might just wanna go ahead and lift those lily bulbs and move them to another site before you plant the other.

I don't know what kind of lillies you have but both are good in sun. It is always best to check the zone charts for the plants you are using. It could be that the lillies have not had time to adapt to their spot in the yard and may do very well next year. Good luck! Gardening is always an adventure!
